Assessment 2: The Critical Review
The aim of this assignment is to engage you in the critical review of ideas, frameworks and theories. Appreciating how ideas, frameworks and theories can help us develop our understanding of a topic is an important skill, as this will allow you to evaluate new perspectives on your area of interest. In our case the management of change.
For this assignment you need to:
1. Choose a context for your critical evaluation, this can be either:
(a) a change experience you have been (or are currently) involved in, or
(b) preparing to deliver a change to programme in a professional and industry context of your choosing. For example, your professional context might be engineering and your industry the energy sector.
2. Select two papers which contain ideas, frameworks or theories about the management of change. These should either be: ( I have attached the course text- There are ten papers in that, select any two )
(a) two papers from the course text, or
(b) one paper from the course text and another academic article on the management of change.
3. Prepare a report which critically appraises the ideas contained in the two papers set against your context (see 1 above).
In your critical appraisal, you should consider the following:
How the ideas contained in the papers help you understand what has happened, or might happen, during the preparation for, and implementation of, your change plan?
The limitations of the ideas contained in the two papers
How the ideas, contained in the papers, could be strengthened to help you develop your understanding of change management?
