HR3S83 and HR3H22 Assignment Term 2 2016-17 Leadership or Management Case Study
Your task is to write a case study for future final year students studying Leadership and Management at Level 6 (final year of a degree course). The assignment aims to test the following the learning outcomes of the module which are:
1. Critically evaluate different organizational contexts for leadership, management and development
2. Criticallyevaluate leadership, management and development in practice.
Your case study should be 3,000 words (+/- 10%) not including references. The case study will be handed in electronically using Turnitin and you should check the originality score. You will be assessed on:
Your case study should contain the following:
1. An explanation of what critical evaluation is all about using the OU’s “Stairway to Criticality” (Open University 2013) as a framework for this discussion (750 words)
2. An introduction to a leader or organisation of your choice which provides a suitable context for the application of practice for the tasks in 3 and 4 below (250 words)
3. An annotated critical application of a leadership or management theory of your choice (taken from the topics taught in Term 2) applied to your leader/organisation. The annotations should show the reader which steps on the OU’s Stairway to Criticality you are using in your discussion. (1500 words)
4. A clear introduction to the case study and commentary throughout which provides guidance to the student including an annotated list of three peer reviewed journal articles which you recommend that they read in relation to this topic (500 words)
You should present your assignment in report format using 12 point font and double line spacing. You are strongly advised to follow best practice in relation to writing a report using the guidance available from the Universityhttp://studyskills.southwales.ac.uk/tabs1/reports/. You are encouraged to use different figures as appropriate in your case study but do not provide appendices.
