The authors of this research article represent the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. They brought new ideas for comparison to find the cause of low birth weight, disorders related to low birth weight. The research was meant to find out how other additional factors increased the risk of neo-natal deaths through low and very low birth weight. Who are the funding organization(s)? Why did they fund this research and what might they want from it? The researchers were funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration and partly by the Health Disparities Research Scholars Program (Witt et al., 2014). These institutions funded this research since it was meant to address a problem that the public health sector had been facing for years without a solution.
