Create an action research proposal to improve your own teaching, learning and assessment practice, which includes the following:
a. What is the issue faced? (e.g. learners not retaining important information needed for an exam, or a challenging class that struggle to focus)
b. Why is it an issue? (e.g. the learner success rates are low, or the class are not learning as well as they might)
2. An investigation into the sources of evidence that you might obtain to solve the problem and a critical analysis of these sources (approximately 1000 words)
a. This requires you to identify the various pieces of evidence that you might use to solve the issue (e.g. learner feedback, peer support, research articles)
b. Once you have identified the research and other evidence, you need to critically analyse it. What are the strengths and weaknesses of these evidence sources (think reliability, validity, generalisability).
c. What does the information tell you about the issue? (e.g. learners might tell you that they want to learn in a particular way, or research might inform you that to retain information best, a particular strategy should be used)
3. A robust plan of action for implementing a new strategy (approximately 750 words)
a. How do you intend to use the above evidence to support your practice?
b. What do you hope to achieve by doing this?
c. By what time should you have completed your action research?
