However, because of different reasons attributable to neglect or breaks in sterility, urinary catheterization also becomes a source of nosocomial infection. Indeed, even though the insertion of urinary catheters is considered as a sterile procedure, breaks in the sterility of the catheter system may sometimes bring different types of infections to the patient.
