The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with an opportunity to practice evaluating statistics.
For economics of higher education, minimum wage, and fair tax do the following:
- For each article, identify three ways that the statistics are (or might be) deceptive
- Explain how each deception influences whether the reader will agree with the author’s
conclusion
For credit card fraud statistics do the following:
- Assume that you are writing to convince people to buy fraud insurance. Provide three examples of how you could use these statistics in a deceptive way to convince the reader to buy fraud insurance.
- Correct your examples from part 1 to show three examples of how to use the statistics in a non-deceptive way to convince the reader to buy fraud insurance.
