1. Clinical assessment: (30%)
Uses a consultation model to obtain holistic history
Critically discuss pertinent data, including a relevant and holistic history and physical examination. Critically analyse any investigations you ordered and the rationale where relevant. If appropriate, critically discuss differential diagnosis. If there is already a diagnosis, critically discuss relevant factors that could cause/affect their presenting problem. If appropriate, discuss factors affecting patient concordance.
2. Prescribing process: (35%)
State whether Independent or Supplementary Prescriber (CMP must be in appendix if SP)
Critically discuss the rationale for choosing the prescribed drug (s) (drug factors, patient factors & influences on prescribing)
Demonstration of evidence based medicine
Discuss drug pharmacology: mechanism of action, interactions and contraindications and how they apply to your case scenario.
Patient management issues (safety netting and follow up plan etc.)
Include CMP as appendix if appropriate (essential to pass if supplementary prescribing)
3. Legal and professional issues: (30%)
Demonstrates understanding of the legal issues that govern prescribing, especially with respect to your patient.
Demonstrates understanding of the professional issues that govern prescribing, especially with respect to your patient.
4. Academic writing: (5%)
Use of appropriate literature to support case study.
Well-presented and correctly referenced.
