John is a seven year old first grade student at Anywhere Elementary School in the Any Town School District. Previously John met Any State educational criteria to be classified as language disordered. On February 14, 2012 it was determined that John continued to meet eligibility criteria to be classified as having autism. This determination was based on formal evaluation results, John`s medical records, observations, and an in-depth social history. Dr. Smart at Any Children`s Hospital in Any Town medically diagnosed John with Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) at age 2 years 6 months. John remains under a physician`s care and takes daily related prescribed medications. He is also medically diagnosed with static encephalopathy which manifests as symptoms of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). John`s mother reports that Dr. Even Smarter is John`s local pediatrician. At this time John takes 35 mg. of Concerta daily. Mother shares that Dr. Smartest, affiliated with Any Other Children`s Hospital in Any Town, is John`s pediatric neurologist.
