We begin by identifying theoretical foundations of international cooperation, institutions, and actors to develop the analytical toolkit that helps us understand why some environmental problems can be governed effectively, while others cannot.
Over the last decade, international environmental problems, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, or depletion of natural resources have gained more and more attention from policymakers, academics, and occasional observers alike.
