Surgical site infections (SSIs) are increasingly becoming one of the most burdensome health-care-associated infections particularly to low-income and middle-income countries. Having established this fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) decided to come up with evidence-based recommendations to help in the fight against SSIs. The article at hand simply outlines the recommendations for the measures that need to be implemented during the preoperative period.
