The assignment is split into two sections.
Section 1 (500 words) asks you to demonstrate what you have learnt about research this semester and I would suggest that you:
•Provide a definition of educational research.
•Identify the aims and objectives of educational research.
•Suggest the methods that can be used to collect data (strengths and weaknesses of these).
•Suggest how you can ensure your research is ethical.
•Suggest how you can try to ensure your research is valid.
With only 500 words for this section you can only be brief but you do need to link to Research Methods texts, such as; Judith Bell, Martyn Denscombe, Mike Lambert etc. These are listed in the module guide.
Section 2 (500 words)asks you to identify an area of research that you are interested in doing for your level 6 project (e.g. inclusion, gender, play, disability access, managing behaviour etc) and then, using 2/3 academic articles that you have found, summarise and discuss the points that are being made which are relevant to your research area. It may be useful in this section to compare and contrast the views of these articles.
You must include one combined references section at the very end, together with a word count for each section (the word count is NOT transferable between sections, you must address each section equally)
