Sociological Deviance
This week in sociology we learned about deviance and the different aspects and reasoning for why different people commit deviant acts. We watched a video about kids going to jail at very young ages.
Blogs are for you to use your “sociological imagination” by applying something that we discussed in class, covered in lectures, read in your textbook, or saw in a video to your everyday life.

The concern for the norms that people depict has always bothered both Sociologists and Psychologists, with most of them offering their views on how they interpret the deviant acts. Most of the thoughts they have are formulated in question forms with an intention to search for answers to what could have triggered a social deviance. Having watched a documentary on an arrest of Kids due to their behavior, I agree with the view that in as far as there are many aspects that guide the character of an individual, the society has not been very accommodation of the children. I am also of the view that the society fails to address some of the issues that are in the lives of these children, which possibly explains why they depict such behaviors. The presentation of these views is both intriguing and insightful.
In a research presented by Taylor, Paul and Jock (31), the same view raised in the documentary are raised with much more concern being offered to the arrest rather than seeking to understand what could have led children to be arrested. Just as noted in the documentary, Taylor, Paul and Jock note that one of the main building blocks of a child to how they behave is the environment they are subjected to and the people that are around their circle. Children who are used to be denied certain aspects will always seek a way to fulfill their desires by finding their own way to how they can go about it. By looking at the people who are around me, I believe I can now understand why they tend to carry out specific activities that are seen by the society to be deviating, yet these people only display the behavior that they learnt from the values and the vices they were subjected to.
