Book Brain Behavior: Introduction to Biological Psychology

INSTRUCTIONS:

The Prompt from my Biological Psychology Instructor is below:
What I would like you to do is to take something you learned in this Biological Psychology class from Chapter 14 and I would like you to apply it to something in the real world.
For instance, a lot of times learning about cells and neurons and what a certain part of the brain does is interesting and maybe a bit fun, but you don’t really apply it to the real world.
Your paper can be either of the three options:
Option 1: a personal experience: For example, you can pick a story involving you that links your personal experience with topics that we covered in chapter 14. Be sure you are able to tie it in to one of the chapters.
Option 2: Your paper does not have to be about something that happened to you, it could also be something that happened to a friend/family member that you witnessed.
Option 3: Or think of a movie and apply it to something we covered in Chapter 14.
As for sources you are only required two for this paper. Your book has to one source and you can use any other outside source. Therefore make sure to reference to your topic from the book with the author and the page number such as (Garrett, PAGE #) OR for example (copy and paste the web address)
Overall, I would just like to have you tell me about something you’ve learned from Chapter 14 and how you have or can apply it to the real world.
Perhaps using google to look something up in order to help your paper out would be good, just don’t quote an article or paper or website directly unless you use quotation marks. And I would like you to cite the reference.
Normally when an article or paper is cited, after it is quoted you put the author’s name and the year of the paper next to the quote, for example:
“The Left brain is the side of the brain that deals with language, blah blah blah” (Kobe, 2006)…
In this case if you are just getting information off of a website you would simply put the website address next to the quote in parentheses.
Remember in your two page paper you must:
Clearly describe a specific relevant event/experience and how it applies to biological psychology (If it`s a movie, it needs a good summary of what happens in the movie and how the situation was handled, as well as what YOU would have done)
Fully explain how the event/movie is related to a theory and/or empirical findings on the topic.
Accurately use any relevant technical terms (from the book or power point slides, etc).
Notes from me the student to the writer:
I think the best option would be to pick a movie of your choosing that meets the criteria of this assignment. I have provided a PowerPoint attachment about Chapter 14 and for the book Chapter 14 is from pages 427 through page 465.
The name of the book is “Brain and Behavior: An Introduction to Biological Psychology” by Bob Garrett. It’s the third edition and the ISBN Number is 978-1-4129-8168-2
The paper must be 2 pages, DOUBLE SPACED, in 12-point font (times new roman) and a separate works cited list.
Thank you.
