INSTRUCTIONS:

We discussed "beast" words today as part of converting drafting to presentation. Here is the handout on beast wordsPreview the documentView in a new window. I asked you to try converting some sentences to practical style by finding and removing the beast words. Here is the second handoutPreview the documentView in a new window.(see attached) Try it. Here is one approach. (do this order based on order 00037578)

1. For each sentence, identify beast words that could come out.

2. Write a new sentence (it might be awkward) that doesn`t have the beast words (or has fewer of them).

3. If you can, then write a new sentence (or two sentences, or even three) that makes the point as clearly as you can. Ignore as much as you can the pattern of the original sentence. Build your own.

You might take a look at the LinkLog to see how I rework a sentence fromSystems of Survival. I change the readability from about 30 (low is hard) to 70 (much easier).

When you have done at least five sentences, upload just your rebuilt sentences here. You can type them in directly or upload a Word file.
