The report should apply project management ideas and techniques to analyse the performance of an international project. It should cover the potential benefits and challenges associated with international project management. It will explore challenges related to team issues, project risk management, planning and organising the IP, implementing and controlling the IP, leading the IP, and co-operating in the IP.
During the module, students will participate in an internship within a company of their choice. Students should base their CW2 assignment on this organisation.
Students should inform their module leader and seek their approval before starting their CW2 assignment on their internship company.
In case students are unable to find an internship or their internship is not appropriate for this assignment, students may choose from one of the case studies provided.
You are strongly advised to support your report (arguments and analysis) with evidence and theory learned during these weeks and throughout the module, as well as other academic sources or reports. You are expected to demonstrate an understanding of the entire life cycle of a project from its conception, through to the planning stage, implementation, completion and review.
Suggested essay checklist/ indicative structure
Your essay is expected to adopt the following structure:
− Cover page – This should include: Module name, Module Code, Your Student ID number, word count and Date of submission.

International Project Management Introduction (15%). What is International Project Management? Theory of IPM, types of projects, context and characteristics of an IP (week 1-2) and learning/ knowledge generated from IPs (week 12)

Overview of an International Project (10%). Based on the case study of your choice provide an overview of the project and its characteristics, such as the details and information of the international project and its context, the industry, countries of operation, stakeholders involved and key data. You are expected to research the above with sources outside of the case study.
3.
Critical Analysis of specific challenges in an International Project (30%). Evaluation of challenges related to an International Project based on your case study. Link the challenges faced in the case study with the theory learned in the module.
4.
Critical analysis of responses to the challenges faced in an International Project (30%). Evaluate strategies and best practices in critical challenges faced in the International Project. Discuss how successfully were the challenges dealt with based on the theory of IP learned in the module. Could the response to the challenges have been more successful?
5.
General content (15%) Presentation, Organisation of report. Outline of report and Conclusion and References. Clarity of arguments presented.
