Report Focus and Gibbs` Reflective Cycle:
Task: Write a reflective report using Gibbs` Reflective Cycle (1988) as a guide. Before the site visits (1 selected by yourself and 2 guided by lecturers), pick one or two HRM related concepts that you wish to focus for the observation. Then based on the phenomenon that you observed, write a reflective report.
Students are required to write their reflective log on ONE experience only.
Gibbs` Reflective Cycle Stages:
Description: What happened? Describe your experience or observation in the workplace.
Feelings: What were you thinking and feeling?
Evaluation: What was good and bad about the phenomenon that you observed in the workplace?
Analysis: How can you make sense of the situation? Apply HRM related concepts here.
Conclusion: What else could have been done? What is your overall impression?
Action Plan: If it arose again, what would you do differently?
Develop a range of skills relevant to HRM work in preparation for an organization.
Reflect upon how this module will help to plan their future career in HRM.
Consider and discuss how theoretical concepts (with particular attention to HRM) apply to practical situations.
Assess the aims of an organisation, its structure and customer relationships and the methods used to achieve organizational objectives through its approach to HRM.
