This assessment will evaluate your performance against all the course learning objectives:
1. Apply detailed knowledge and critical understanding of relevant literature and psychological theories to underpin a literature review and research question for a significant independent project in psychology. (25%)
2. Apply detailed knowledge and critical understanding of qualitative and/or quantitative research skills to underpin methods for a significant independent project in psychology. (55%)
3. Critically review and develop their assignment in response to formative feedback and reflective learning on the programme, detailing how they creatively explored and solved problems to industry-relevant global matters. (10%)
4. Apply detailed knowledge and critical understanding of relevant APA publication guidelines and present work in a manner appropriate for the assignment. (10%)
You are tasked with producing a research proposal for an Independent Project in Psychology. The proposal should inform your subsequent work in C91IP Independent Project in Psychology, which you will undertake after the taught components of your MSc are completed.
You can follow different research paradigms that guide your research proposal. For example, your research can be based on post-positivism (quantitative study), interpretivism (qualitative study) or pragmatism (e.g., mixed-method design). For mixed-methods studies, please indicate clearly, using appropriate subheadings, information related to your quantitative study and information related to your qualitative study (present the information by determined sequence of studies).
There are five elements to the assessment. Please use the following headings and subheadings (denoted by numbers, e.g., 1.2) in your submission.
1. Underpinning Literature, your Research Question(s), and, if relevant, Hypotheses (25%) (max 900 words)
