In the practical task you completed a number of tasks to allow you to explore face perception and factors that might be involved (see slides). If you chose this topic as your critical review for the coursework component you will be required to examine the evidence for specialist processing of faces in the brain. You should reflect on the tasks we do in the practical to help you.
To guide you, in your review make sure you include discussion of the following elements:
1.What does holistic processing mean? Why are inverted faces used as control stimuli for faces?
2.What is the evidence for specialised regions of the brain in face perception and how strong is this evidence?
3.What is the expertise theory of face processing? How does it differ (or not) from the above and how strong is the evidence?
