Submit a 3,000-word report in which you evaluate the positive impact of a business organisation on a social, environmental, or ethical issue of your choice.
You should identify any social, environmental, or ethical issue introduced in the module (e.g., social inequalities, climate change, globalisation and imperialism, work, etc.) and discuss how this issue affects or is affected by business organisations.
Whilst in the group presentation you were asked to demonstrate how your chosen organisation contributed to a particular problem, for your individual report you should analyse an organisation who is working to address your issue of choice in their business practices. You will analyse their alternative management practices and how these contribute to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
You are encouraged to structure your report as follows:
- Introduction to the report and rationale for the choice of organisation [c. 300 words]
- Literature review discussing the issue you are analysing and how it affects or is affected by business organisations in general. Refer to relevant concepts and theories from academic sources discussed in the first part of the module and from your independent research. Some social, environmental, and ethical issues can be interrelated (e.g., unsafe working conditions, pollution and organisation ethical misconduct), but we recommend you concentrate on only one issue to help you develop a thorough review. [c. 900 words]
- Analysis of the chosen organisation in relation to the selected social, environmental, or ethical issue, highlighting how their practices contribute to address any related SDGs. You should also support your analysis with sources which can include articles from the news, the company website, employee reviews, academic research, etc. [c. 1,200 words]
- Self-reflection on what lessons you have learned for the future and how you might act differently through investigating this issue at personal and professional levels. [c.600 words]
