Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to provide students with an opportunity to apply their course knowledge of Qatar Employment Law in alignment to the Managing Grievances function of HRM. The assignment is an analysis and application of current laws and legal information in Qatar.
Partners:
In pairs (same grouping as Assignment 1-5), students will design and develop a 1-page Fact Sheet based on CLO4, Employment Laws related to Managing Employee Disputes and Grievances, using laws related to managing employee disputes and laws related to managing employee grievances.
Assumption:
In this assignment, take the role of the HR Manager. Therefore, using the Fact Sheet, explain and outline the laws related to managing employee disputes and laws related to managing employee grievances.
Employee Dispute/Employee Grievances Process Fact Sheet:
Create a 1-page Fact Sheet to summarize the Employee Grievance Process for employees in a company in Qatar. What do employees need to know about the Grievance Process and how can we best communicate this to them? Assume the employees do not have any background information on the grievance process. Communicate and explain, using a Fact Sheet, the complete process to file and manage a grievance to the employees, including both the internal and external process to grieve.
Use the following questions as tips for your fact sheet:
1. Explain what a grievance is.
2. If I have a dispute with my employer and I would like to grievance about it, what do I do?
3. How should my employer handle my dispute? What is the process to complain or grieve my dispute within my company?
a. Ensure to start with the internal process to grieve a complaint, as this is the ideal management of grievances.
4. Explain the external process to handle grievances, if the internal process was unsuccessful. This includes the MOL and LDSC.
5. What are the international standards by ILO to handle a grievance in the workplace?
Keep in mind, there are many paths to grievance and you should include all paths and stakeholders involved.
7. Use visuals such as SmartArt to create the process. Charts and visuals are more effective than paragraph form. This is a fact sheet and acts as a reference and guide.
