Purpose:
The Group Project consists of 3 (three) parts and provides students with an opportunity to apply their course knowledge of Training and Development by realizing the three tasks of the Project:
Task 1 – Create a Brief Company Report - 5%
Task 2 – Design a Mini-Training Program - 20%
Task 3 – Deliver a Group Project Presentation -10%
The students will practice analyzing the components of creating a Training and Development program including all elements of the process and conduct an effective presentation of the training activity
Group Project: Design a Training Program (35%)
TASK 1: Create a Company Brief Report (5%)
Instructions:
- Form a group of 4-5 students
- Choose a company in any industry
- Research the company`s background, culture, and current industry challenges.
- Write a brief report on the company, focusing on aspects relevant to training and development needs
Deliverable:
Company Brief Report (2-3 pages) including:
- Company name and industry
- Brief history and current status
- Organizational structure and culture
- Key challenges or opportunities the company is facing
- Initial thoughts on potential training needs based on the company profile
TASK 2: Design a Mini Training Program (20%) Use ADDIE Model
Instructions:
- Based on your Company Brief Report, identify a specific skill or knowledge area that requires training
- Conduct a brief needs analysis to justify the need for this training
- Design a 3-hour training session that addresses the identified need
- Develop an integrated evaluation plan for your training program
Deliverables:
- Needs Analysis Report (2-3 pages)
- Justification for the chosen training topic
- Summary of the needs analysis process
- Identified gaps in skills or knowledge
- Training Program Design Document (5-10 pages)
- Learning objectives
- Detailed session outline using training design process (e.g., description of training methods and activities)
- Timeline for the 3-hour session
- List of required resources and materials
- Evaluation Plan (2-3 pages)
- Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Evaluation framework application
- Specific metrics to assess the training program’s success
- Data collection methods and tools (e.g., surveys, assessments, observation checklists)
- Timeline for evaluation activities (before, during, and after training)
Key Considerations:
- Ensure alignment between learning objectives, training content, and evaluation metrics
- Explain how emerging trends influence your training design and evaluation approach
TASK 3: Group Project Presentation (10%)
Instructions:
Prepare and deliver a presentation summarizing your project work, including:
- Overview of the company and its training needs
- Key elements of your training program design
- Evaluation plan highlights
- Reflection on the project process and learning outcomes
Deliverable:
- 15-minute presentation (with 5 minutes for Q&A)
- Presentation slides or other visual aids
Submission Guidelines:
- All written components should be in 12-point font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins.
- Include a cover page with your name, student ID, and project title.
- Submit all documents as a single PDF file for Task 1 and Task 2
- Submit presentation slides as a separate file for Task 3.
Grading Criteria:
- Task 1: Quality and relevance of Company Brief Report (5%)
- Task 2: Thoroughness of needs analysis, effectiveness of training design, comprehensiveness of evaluation plan, and integration of emerging trends (20%)
- Task 3: Clarity, organization, and delivery of the presentation, as well as the ability to answer questions (10%)
