Assignment:
One of the requirements for the Humanities 1301 class is that students “attend” two cultural events of
some type. These events can be actual events, or on-line virtual or streaming events such as concerts,
plays, dance performances, or even a virtual visit to a famous structure of particular architectural
interest. One of the best events to participate in would be an on-line visit to many of the world’s great
museums.

Response Format:
After the event, write a one page description focusing on the form and the function. What is the
function of this event? What are the colors, shapes, sounds, and sights of the event? Consider how all of
the elements fit together in a unified whole. What is the overall impression? What individual and
societal values are reflected throughout this event? What kinds of emotional responses were evoked in
you? What was your level of participation in the event (How deeply engaged were you in what was
happening)? Has the event resonated with you – stayed in your mind?
