Rationale:
Businesses can utilise business intelligence techniques to make data-driven decisions. Data Analysts must first understand business requirements before collecting suitable data. Data must then be processed, structured and cleansed before it can be analysed. Meaningful insights can be derived from data analysis results to inform business decision-making.
This assessment will enable you to apply business intelligence techniques to solve business problems and offer decision support to a case study organisation seeking to achieve better outcomes. You will obtain practical experience in filtering, sorting, manipulating and interrogating data with business intelligence techniques. You will implement business intelligence techniques with data analysis tools and present your solutions. Progress on tasks will be regularly reviewed and verbal feedback will also be provided by seminar tutors
Description:
At the start of this module (week 2), you will be allocated a case study to solve a business challenge. Complete the three stages of work listed below to develop a data-driven approach for the case study organisation. The stages of work need to be documented in detail and presented in professional manner to the senior management of the organisation.
During the module you will need to attend two progress review meetings (in-person or online) to discuss the progress of each stage of work. The two progress review meetings are an opportunity for you to demonstrate your knowledge of the set readings plus completion of in-class tasks (labs) and to explain how you have applied the knowledge in each stage of work.
