Focus on industry-level data from a specific geographic area or country (e.g. Europe or UK)
The analysis may include an appropriate selection from the following:
o The structure of the industry (degree of industry concentration or fragmentation, i.e. proportion of large, dominating firms v smaller firms)
o Structure of the industry, i.e. market share of major and/or small firms
o Industry size and growth rate (over several years)
o Stage of the industry life cycle (with reasons why you think it is at that stage)
o Industry value chain (and how external factors, i.e. PESTEL factors, might affect key parts of the value chain)
o Competitive forces in the industry (e.g. barriers to entry; intensity of rivalry between incumbents; threat of substitution…)
o Drivers of change in the industry
o The impact of external factors on the industry
Write a conclusion on industry conditions based on the data provided in your report.
Ideally, the slides will be linked to tell a ‘story’ explaining the conditions in the industry.
