Select a business and evaluate the range of factors that this business should take into account if
considering whether to adopt the living wage rather than the minimum wage in New Zealand. Ensure
you include the following aspects in your evaluation:
• Business strategy and reward – what are the potential strategic gains and what risks should be
• Employee motivation and reward – what are the potential impacts on reward and potential
challenges to redesign and implement the adoption of the living wage?
• Data and information – how can HR analytics and ‘big data’ be used to inform this decision,
and what data and information held by the company would be required? How can data and
information be used to monitor and measure the Reward System?
