Task 1:  Holistic needs of a person

28524 Outcome 1: Describe the holistic needs of a person being supported in a health or wellbeing setting.

Think about a person you are supporting and the holistic needs they have.  Describe four of their needs. These may be any of the following, but not limited to: physical, emotional, social, cultural, spiritual, mental, socio-economic, creative, occupational. (28524 E.R.1.1)

Physical needs relate to the person`s physical health and well-being. These include,

-Adequate nutrition and hydration.

-Access to appropriate healthcare services.

-Safe and comfortable living environment.

-Management of chronic illnesses or disabilities.

-Mobility and physical activity requirements.

Emotional needs related to the mental health and emotional wellbeing. It provides with emotional reassurance and support, coping with stress, expression of feelings, and access to mental health services and creating a sense of belonging

This revolves around the social interactions and connections of a person. It involves prevention of social isolation, build support network, access to support groups and social services, maintaining relationship with friends, family and community and preventing loneliness. 

Physical Needs: Lead to malnutrition, injuries, health complications, and an overall physical health decline.

Emotional Needs: It leads to emotional distress, depression, and causes an inability to cope with challenges.

Social Needs: Causes social isolation, lack of social support and loneliness.

Task 2:  Supporting a person to meet their needs

28524 Outcome 3: Describe impacts of roles involved in supporting a person to meet their holistic needs in a health or wellbeing setting

E.R. 3.1 Impact of own role in supporting the person to meet their holistic needs is described.

E.R. 3.2 Impacts of two other roles that support the person to meet their holistic needs are described.

28524 Outcome 4: Provide support that meets a person’s holistic needs in a health or wellbeing setting.

Range – one person who is being supported.

E.R. 4.1 The person’s holistic needs are identified and recorded.

E.R. 4.2 Support is provided that meets at least two holistic needs of the person.

For this task, you need to demonstrate knowledge of how you would respond to people in situations of vulnerability in a health or wellbeing setting

E.R. 1.4: Own responsibilities for responding to situations of vulnerability are outlined in terms of organisational standards.

Range: must include but is not limited to – immediate response, and required follow-up.
